Brivo B-BSSF-W Smart Reader
The B-BSSF-W is the white single-gang reader in Brivo’s Smart Reader line — the same reader as the black B-BSSF-B, just finished to disappear against a light wall instead of standing out on a dark one. On painted drywall in a residential lobby, a bright office vestibule, or a clinic entrance, the white face reads as part of the trim rather than a black box screwed up next to the door. It flush-mounts in a standard 1-gang box, so on most retrofits it lands right where the old reader was.
Color aside, it’s the full modern setup, and that’s the point of putting one in: Brivo Mobile Pass over Bluetooth and NFC, Brivo’s encrypted 13.56 MHz smart cards (B-SC, B-SCP) and B-SF fobs, and OSDP secure channel back to the panel. OSDP matters because it’s encrypted — the credential isn’t sitting exposed on the wires for anyone who pries the reader off the wall and clones it. Wiegand’s still there for older gear. That encryption is exactly why you can put one on a door that’s guarding something worth guarding, not just a front lobby.
In a condo or apartment building the real draw is Bluetooth. It’s a notch below an encrypted card on paper, but people love it, and a residential entrance isn’t a vault — you fit the security to the door. With Brivo Mobile Pass a resident can leave the phone in a pocket and tap the reader, open the app to unlock, or make the app ask for Face ID first; that last one is tighter but slower, and for a downtown apartment entrance it’s more than the door needs. Most buildings land on tap-and-go and never look back.
It reads phones and cards together, so a building can run both during a changeover, and it pairs with any current Brivo panel — the ACS100-E up through the ACS6000-E / 6100-E. Multi-color LED and a beeper so people get clear feedback, IP55 for a covered entry, and a −35 to 66 °C range that matters more than you’d think after one Chicago February. Want a PIN or fob-plus-PIN at a sensitive door? That’s the keypad B-BSKF-W. Still carrying old 125 kHz prox cards? The tri-tech B-BSPSF-W reads those too while you migrate. We wire it, set up OSDP, and enroll it in your Brivo dashboard. If you’re down to black-versus-white, you’re basically done — the harder calls are covered in our reader guide. Get in touch when you want eyes on the actual entrance.
