Brivo B-BSPMF-B Smart Reader (Tri-Tech Mullion)
The B-BSPMF-B is the mullion tri-tech reader — the narrow body that fits a glass storefront frame, an aluminum door stile, or an elevator surround, with the prox-reading trick built in. It’s the one you spec when a building wants to modernize its narrow-frame entrances but still has a stack of 125 kHz HID Prox cards in people’s pockets. You get the slim form factor and a clean migration in one part: modern readers on the mullions now, old prox cards still working, residents moving to phones and smart cards on their own time. Matte black, so it tucks into dark aluminum and glass instead of standing off the frame.
It carries the whole credential set: Brivo Mobile Pass over Bluetooth and NFC, encrypted 13.56 MHz smart cards (B-SC, B-SCP) and B-SF fobs, legacy 125 kHz prox, and OSDP secure channel to the panel with Wiegand behind it. The honest read on security is the same as the rest of the tri-tech line — the smart card over encrypted OSDP is the strong credential, and the old prox is the convenient, lower-security one you keep only to bridge the changeover. On a glass entrance that opens to a lobby, that mix is exactly right.
Mullion readers mostly live on entrances and in elevator cabs, and that’s where the Bluetooth convenience shows. Phone stays in the pocket and the resident taps the frame, or unlocks from the app, or turns on Face ID for a more sensitive cab — though a normal residential elevator doesn’t ask for that. Lower security than a hard credential, sure, but for an entrance or a cab it’s the right trade and it’s the thing people actually use without being told twice.
It pairs with any current Brivo panel from the ACS100-E to the ACS6000-E / 6100-E and keeps the multi-color LED, beeper, IP55 rating and −35 to 66 °C range of the line — useful on an outdoor gate mullion riding out a Chicago winter. The white version is the B-BSPMF-W. No prox to carry on these frames? The dual-tech mullion B-BSMF-B is simpler. Need a PIN, which means a single-gang body? Look at the keypad tri-tech B-BSPKF-B. There’s more on how tri-tech fits a credential migration in the reader guide. Or skip the reading and have us walk the building.
