Brivo B-BSMF-B Smart Reader

The B-BSMF-B is the mullion version of Brivo’s Smart Reader — the narrow one, built to fit where a standard reader won’t. A glass storefront mullion, an aluminum door frame, the side panel of an elevator cab: those spots are an inch or two wide, and a single-gang reader just doesn’t go there. The matte-black face tucks into dark aluminum and glass so it looks like it belongs on the frame instead of bolted next to it. Everything else about it is the same modern reader as the rest of the line — the slim body is the only compromise.

The back of a B-BSMF-B before it goes on the wall — that's the label we check so the right SKU lands on the right door.

It runs Brivo Mobile Pass over Bluetooth and NFC and reads Brivo’s encrypted 13.56 MHz smart cards (B-SC, B-SCP) plus B-SF fobs, and it talks to the panel over OSDP secure channel with Wiegand as a fallback. OSDP being encrypted is the part that matters on a glass entrance or an elevator: nobody pulls the reader off the mullion and skims a credential off the wires. Set up properly there’s no easy way past it, which is why it’s fine on a high-rise lobby or a parking elevator and not just an interior door.

Elevators and apartment lobbies are exactly where the Bluetooth convenience pays off. A resident keeps the phone in a pocket and taps the mullion to call a floor, or opens the app, or makes the app want Face ID first if it’s a more sensitive cab — though for a normal residential elevator that last step is more than anyone needs. It’s a notch below a hard credential on security, sure, but for a building entrance or a cab that’s the right trade, and people actually use it.

It pairs with any current Brivo panel from the ACS100-E to the ACS6000-E / 6100-E, runs phones and cards side by side, and carries the same multi-color LED, beeper, IP55 rating, and −35 to 66 °C range as its single-gang siblings — handy on an exterior gate mullion through a Chicago winter. Same mullion reader in white is the B-BSMF-W for lighter frames. Need legacy 125 kHz prox to keep working on these narrow frames? Step up to the tri-tech B-BSPMF-B. And if a door actually needs a PIN, the keypad models are single-gang — see the B-BSKF-B. Our reader guide sorts the full line if the frame turns out wider than you thought. Reach out and we’ll measure before anything gets ordered.
