Brivo ACS-SDC-E Edge Door Controller
The SDC-E is the single-door controller that mounts at the door instead of in a panel room. That sounds like a small detail until you’re working an old Chicago walk-up or a leased suite where running fresh low-voltage back to a closet means opening up plaster, fishing a masonry wall, or talking the landlord into riser access. With the SDC-E you put the panel in its own metal box right by the opening, pull one PoE cable to the nearest switch, and you’re done — power and network on the same wire, no panel room in the picture.
So it’s the one we grab for the jobs the textbook architecture hates: retrofits into finished construction, leased space where the tenant only controls their own doors, historic buildings you can’t tear into, and that one stray door out at the edge of a campus that isn’t worth a 200-foot home run. The enclosure has a tamper switch, so if someone goes after the panel itself, Brivo’s cloud hears about it.
Under the at-the-door packaging it’s the same Brivo system as the big panels, and that’s the whole point. No access server to host — credentials, schedules and the audit trail live in Brivo’s cloud, replicated across at least three separate hardened servers (the company’s number) with backups on top. We’ve rebuilt a Paxton site or two after a local database let go; with Brivo that hasn’t been a call we’ve had to make. The reader runs over OSDP v2 secure channel so nobody skims a credential off the wires, with Wiegand there for an older reader; you can mix Brivo Mobile Pass phones with the building’s legacy 125 kHz prox cards, leave the door open on a daytime schedule and lock it to credentials at night, and watch it live from a browser. Internet drops out? It keeps running the door and syncs the logs when it’s back.
It runs on PoE or 12 V DC, anchors a clean install on its own, and works with Brivo’s Smart Readers, HID Signo / iCLASS SE, or any OSDP v2 reader. If the door happens to sit next to a wiring closet anyway, the ACS-100 covers one door for a little less; two doors and it’s the ACS300-E-B. Get in touch and we’ll walk the door with you.
