HID Signo 40K PIV — FIPS 201 Reader with Keypad for Card + PIN Doors

The HID Signo 40K PIV Reader combines the FIPS 201 PIV credential support of the Signo 40 PIV with an integrated capacitive-touch keypad for PIN-code 2-factor authentication — in standard single-gang form factor. From HID Global, supporting PIV / CAC / TWIC / FRAC government credentials, HID Mobile Access, iCLASS SE / SEOS plus PIN entry over OSDP v2 AES-128 encrypted secure channel. IP55-rated for indoor and protected outdoor positions.

The typical spot for this reader is the server room or records room at a shop working under a government contract — the contract says card plus PIN, the staff carries CAC or PIV cards, and the door needs both checks before it opens. The keypad is capacitive, so there are no buttons to gum up and no springs to die.

Three Requirements, One Unit

  1. PIV / CAC / TWIC / FRAC reading (FIPS 201) where the contract requires it
  2. PIN as the second factor for rooms holding records, servers, or gear
  3. Standard single-gang mount — most interior doors are standard wall, not mullion

If any one of the three drops off, a cheaper sibling covers it — that’s what the pairings below are for.

Where the Signo 40K PIV Fits

  • Server and records rooms at offices holding government contracts
  • Contractor doors with a card-plus-PIN policy in writing
  • Warehouse and dock offices with TWIC cards and a PIN requirement
  • Tenant suites hosting a government-agency tenant with a 2-factor policy
  • IT and panel rooms behind a PIV-credentialed entry
