Schlage XE360 Series Wireless Electronic Lock

The Schlage XE360 is Allegion’s flagship wireless electronic lock series — a comprehensive family of door locks that combines the lock cylinder, the credential reader, the access decision logic, and the motorized lock mechanism into a single device at the door. No separate panel, no hard-wired reader, no electric strike. The XE360 reads multi-technology credentials directly at the door, decides whether to open, and drives its own motorized mortise / cylindrical / exit-trim mechanism — all powered by internal batteries with a typical 12–24 month service life under normal commercial use.

The XE360 is not a single SKU — it’s a product family spanning mortise, cylindrical, and exit-trim form factors with multiple lever / handleset designs, finishes, cylinder options, and cred-tech configurations. Vidimost specifies the exact variant per opening based on door type, fire-rating requirements, finish standard, and credential policy at site walkthrough.

Hero — XE360 in Standard Mortise Configuration

The flagship configuration is the XE360 Mortise lock — Grade 1 commercial mortise lockset with integrated electronic head, multi-tech reader, and battery-powered motorized actuator. This is the configuration shown above and the most common pick for multifamily residential, education, hospitality, and commercial interior-area doors.

Why Wireless-Lock Architecture Beats Traditional Panels for Some Doors

For doors where running new low-voltage cable to a panel room is impractical or impossible, the XE360 architecture has decisive advantages:

  • No reader / panel / lock wiring per door — each door has a self-contained wireless lock; no conduit runs from each door back to a panel room
  • Battery-powered locks — installation is dramatically faster and works in retrofit / historic / leased buildings
  • Mobile credentials — Schlage Mobile Access on phones with optional Apple Wallet / Google Wallet integration for hospitality / multifamily use cases
  • Centralized cloud admin — same browser dashboard manages all locks; multi-property federation simplifies portfolio administration

The trade-off: lock batteries need periodic replacement (typically 12–24 months depending on usage), and the wireless protocol introduces small latencies (1–2 seconds) in unlock responsiveness vs. instant hard-wired strike actuation.

Allegion Zentra — The Cloud Platform

The XE360 is part of the Allegion Zentra ecosystem — Allegion’s cloud-based access management platform that federates wireless locks (XE360 series), reader-controllers (RC11, RC15, RCK15), credentials, and admin tools into one ecosystem.

A typical Chicago project mixing wired and wireless openings on Zentra:

  • Storefront / lobby entryRC11 mullion reader-controller (hard-wired to lock and network)
  • Building management officeRC15 single-gang reader-controller (also serves as enrollment station for new credentials)
  • Sensitive 2-factor doors (server room, cash office) — RCK15 keypad reader-controller
  • All interior unit / classroom / guest-room doors — XE360 wireless locks (battery-powered, no wiring)

Everything administered from one Zentra cloud dashboard. New residents / employees / guests get credentials issued through Zentra, and the rights propagate to whichever doors they need to access — wired or wireless.

XE360 Variants

The XE360 product family spans these primary configurations (Vidimost specifies the right variant at site walkthrough):

VariantBest Fit
XE360 MortiseMultifamily unit doors, classroom doors, hospitality guest rooms, commercial suite doors with mortise prep
XE360 CylindricalStandard cylindrical-prep commercial doors — back-of-house, office suite doors with cylindrical prep
XE360 Exit TrimRetrofit onto Von Duprin and other exit devices — emergency egress doors that need access control without replacing the exit hardware

Each variant has multiple lever / handleset designs (Allegion’s standard Schlage lever lineup), finishes (626 satin chrome most common; 605 bright brass, 612 satin bronze, 626AM antimicrobial available), and cylinder options (SFIC, FSIC, Schlage Primus, mechanical override only).

Where the Schlage XE360 Wins in Chicago

  • Multifamily residential unit doors — apartments, condos, mixed-use towers across the city
  • Hospitality guest-room doors — boutique hotels, mid-size hotels, extended-stay properties
  • Education — classroom and office doors at smaller private schools
  • Healthcare — supply-room and office doors at clinics and outpatient facilities
  • Senior living and assisted-living facility resident-room doors
  • Commercial offices — suite doors at multi-tenant buildings
  • Property management portfolios standardizing on Zentra across multiple buildings
  • Co-living and short-term rental buildings with mobile-key check-in
  • Government / municipal interior-area doors with wireless access
  • Retail / hospitality back-of-house manager / supply / cash-office doors

XE360 vs. ASSA ABLOY Accentra nexTouch — Different Platforms, Different Brands

The Schlage XE360 (this product) and the ASSA ABLOY Accentra nexTouch family are competing platforms from different parent companies — they are not part of the same ecosystem and should not be mixed within a single building’s access-management system:

  • Schlage XE360 (this page) — manufactured by Schlage, part of Allegion. Integrates with Allegion Zentra cloud (multifamily) and Schlage ENGAGE-enabled wireless infrastructure.
  • ASSA ABLOY Accentra nexTouch — manufactured by ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA (formerly Yale Commercial). Standalone PIN-keypad locks with optional ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA Digital cloud integration on supported variants.

Choose XE360 + Allegion Zentra for properties that want a unified Schlage / Allegion ecosystem with ENGAGE multi-tech credentials (cards, fobs, mobile, PIN). Choose Accentra nexTouch for properties standardizing on ASSA ABLOY hardware (especially multifamily / senior living portfolios already on the Accentra Digital platform). Vidimost installs both — we specify the right platform per project at site walkthrough based on what the property already runs and what credential ecosystem the building wants to commit to.
