Frequently asked questions straight answers, no fluff.
Below are the questions we hear most from property managers, boards, and business owners in Chicago and the North Shore. If you don’t see your question here, contact us and we’ll answer it directly.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Chicago and nearby suburbs, with a strong focus on the North Shore. For larger projects (towers, multi-building sites, or complex integrations), we can expand coverage based on scope.
Do you work with condos, HOAs, and property management companies?
Yes. Many of our projects are for condos, HOAs, and property managers. We focus on stable systems, clean documentation, and workflows that make day-to-day operations easier for staff and boards.
Can you upgrade an existing system without replacing everything?
Often yes. We can stabilize power and networking, replace failing components, clean up wiring/terminations, improve camera coverage, and document the system — then propose a phased upgrade plan.
What brands do you install?
We work with proven platforms commonly used in Chicago buildings, including Hanwha Vision, Axis, Ubiquiti, Brivo, Paxton, and 2N. Final selection depends on the building, requirements, and long-term support needs.
Do you provide remote support and monitoring?
Yes. When appropriate, we can set up secure remote access for troubleshooting, health checks, and proactive maintenance. Reliable networking and clear documentation are key to making remote support effective.
Will magnetic locks open during a power outage?
Many magnetic locks are fail-safe by design: if power is lost, the magnet releases and the door unlocks. We plan for this with correct lock selection, life-safety requirements, and backup power (UPS) when appropriate.
How do you handle wiring in high-rise buildings?
We plan cable paths, risers, power, and network segmentation carefully. We label and document everything, follow building requirements, and coordinate with management and other trades to minimize disruption.
Do you help with network design for security systems (VLANs, PoE, UPS)?
Yes. Network stability is a common hidden failure point. We design VLAN separation, PoE budgeting, UPS planning, and clean switching/routing so cameras, access control, and intercoms remain stable.
