DSC (Digital Security Controls) was founded in 1979 in Toronto, Canada, by a group of engineers who developed one of the first fully digital security alarm panels. Over the following decades, DSC became one of the three dominant alarm panel manufacturers in North America (alongside Honeywell and NAPCO), with millions of panels installed in commercial and residential properties.

DSC was acquired by Tyco International, which later merged with Johnson Controls. Today, DSC operates under the Johnson Controls / Tyco security portfolio, continuing to manufacture and support its PowerSeries panel lineup.
